Carbon Fibre Dashboard for the Mercedes-Benz 190 E Evolution

The 190 E Evolution was not given a new day. It was given a faster one. Homologated for DTM, finished as a road car, and sent out with the dashboard of the saloon it had already outgrown. The instruments stayed. The board beneath them did not have to.

DMC has drawn that board again, in carbon. Not a cover laid over the old plastic. A replacement. The original panel comes out. This one goes in, and the dials sit where Stuttgart left them.

A board for the car that was built to race

The Evolution, and the Evolution II that followed it, were made in small numbers so a racer could exist. The body learned a new language. The cabin kept the one it had. This dashboard is the missing sentence: one panel, drawn for the car the Evo already was.

It is the piece an owner asks for when the rest of the car has been taken seriously.

How the panel is made

The weave is not applied. It is built. Prepreg carbon fibre, laid to the form of the original dashboard, then committed to the autoclave: heat and pressure until the laminate has no void left to hide. No film over a mould. No decorative skin. The board is the material.

Since 2009

DMC Exotic Car Tuning Limited has spent the years since 2009 treating carbon as structure. German engineering, held to TÜV-certified development for road safety. The same discipline supplied to OEM dealers, and to the Italian houses and yacht ateliers that already know what a weave should feel like.

The 190 E Evolution dashboard belongs to that line. A classic Mercedes-Benz, given the panel its racing life implied.

Install:

This is a replacement part. The OEM dashboard needs to be removed for installation but you won’t have to send it in. Use the DMC Tool Kit if you feel necessary. Although fitting is quite straight forward we do always recommend using a trained professionals to undertake the install. We estimate around 150 minutes to fit. Remember to turn off the airbag before installing.

Carbon Fiber Gel Coat:

DMC Carbon Fiber Products come with a free Gloss or Matte Coating on all Carbon Fiber items, please leave a note at check out which one you like. If you don’t specify we will add a gloss base layer. However we suggest you to add one additional layer to match your country’s local UV and weather requirements as they differ throughout the world. We also suggest to wax and seal the item further, even though we include a base seal of high quality carnauba product. This can be protective in regions that have high humidity or rain.
