Carbon Fibre SV Engine Bonnet for the Lamborghini Murciélago

The LP670 opened the engine to the eye. An octagon of glass, then another, set into the lid so the V12 could be read without lifting the panel. The earlier Murciélago kept that view shut. DMC has drawn the SV bonnet again, in carbon, with the safety glass the Super Veloce made iconic.

Not a cover. A replacement. The original hood comes off. This one goes on, and the engine is no longer a rumour.

The lid that shows the engine

A closed bonnet asks the owner to imagine the twelve. The SV declined the request. Two octagons, cut into the carbon, glazed, so the cam covers and the intake can be seen from the standing height of a man who already owns the car. DMC has taken that refusal and made it a part.

On a 580 or an LP640, it is the bonnet Sant’Agata fitted only to the SV. On an original LP670, it is the lid, remade.

How the bonnet is made

The weave is not applied. It is built. Prepreg carbon fibre, laid to the form of the LP670 engine cover, then committed to the autoclave: heat and pressure until the laminate has no void left to hide. The octagon openings are cut to the geometry of the original SV. The safety glass is set into them, so the panel remains a panel. No film over a mould. No decorative skin. The bonnet is the material, and the glass is the window it was drawn to hold.

The Murciélago SV engine bonnet belongs to that line. The octagon the earlier cars were not given, and the lid the LP670 may have again.

Install:

This is a replacement part, the OEM Parts have to be removed for installation. Having the DMC Tool-Kit makes the work a lot easier if you do have, but it’s not needed for this install. Although fitting is quite straight forward we do always recommend using a trained professional to undertake the install. We estimate around 360 minutes to fit.

Gel Coat:

DMC Products come with a free Gloss or Matte Coating on all Carbon Fiber items, please leave a note at check out which one you like. If you don’t specify we will add a gloss base layer. However we suggest you to add one additional layer to match your country’s local UV and weather requirements as they differ throughout the world. We also suggest to wax and seal the item further, even though we include a base seal of high quality carnauba product. This can be protective in regions that have high humidity or rain.
